I think the Russian Sherlock Holmes had a bigger influence on Mofftiss and Guy Ritchie than any of the other versions. I could be wrong but this is just one similarity out of many I’ve noticed in the past two/three episodes.
I like to think that a lot of newer interpretations are inspired by the Russian version, even if they probably were inspired by the books themselves. I just like to think that people actually watch the Russian version.

“I love Sherlock Holmes. Not just the new adaptations where Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law slap-fight in 14 layers of tweed and drive a steampunk rocketship into Benjamin Disraeli’s humourous taxidermy collection while pretending that Stephen Fry and Jude Law didn’t already star together in a Victorian Boyfriends film 10 years ago.”
# Sherlock # The first paragraph of this is golden # tweed # wish I'd written it # Robert Downey Jr # Jude Law # victorian boyfriends
# tweed # slash # Sherlock Holmes # Game of Shadows # midnight showings # Robert Downey Jr. # Jude Law
Slash and Tweed. Tweed and Slash. I don’t care if Guy Ritchie is annoying muppet of a director because this movie tics so many boxes.
